Registration Cost

The Cost of Football

CYA football is committed to giving our players not only the best experience but the best equipment possible, and there is a cost associated with this. So CYA football would like to explain to all CYA football families why it is necessary to fundraise.

Currently the registration is $165. From the $165 registration fee, $20 is deducted for CYA administration fees, $5.50 for "user tax" which is paid to the county and an additional $10 is deducted by CYA from all registration fees of children playing football, soccer and lacrosse for a new Artificial turf field. From the $165 registration fee, CYA football only receives $139.50.

As mentioned above, CYA football is committed to giving their players the best possible equipment and that comes with a price tag. Our helmets are sent out to be reconditioned, inspected and painted every other year. Helmets that fail inspection are then replaced by new helmets which can cost up to $120 each; coaching equipment such as chutes, footballs, mouth guards, tees etc. need to be purchased, along with supplies for the coach's bags such as first aid kit, tape etc. And just to participate in FCYFL, CYA must pay $450 per team. Last year, CYA hosted 29 teams and paid over $13,000 in league fees. And the actual cost to outfit one player for football with all the right equipment is roughly $250-$300 per player.

As you can see, the $129.50 does not cover the costs associated with playing football which is why we require all participating football families to help the football program by fundraising. For the past several years, CYA football has raffled off a variety of cars and thanks to the efforts of all the families and the surrounding community, this fundraiser has been extremely successful. We hope to keep that winning streak alive in 2012.
